Shawn Leibold Selected to Fill STAR Board of Directors Seat

Leibold has collaborated with STAR members as a part of the organization’s Technology Committee and has served as a previous board member.

The Reynolds and Reynolds company announced Shawn Leibold, director of industry relations for Reynolds, was selected in a special election to fill a vacant seat on the board of directors for the Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR), the leading automotive IT standards organization.

Leibold has collaborated with STAR members — OEM executives, retail automotive dealer principals, representatives from NADA, and other technology providers — as a part of the organization’s Technology Committee and has served as a previous board member. He exemplifies Reynolds’ commitment to collaboration and partnership within the industry, the company said in a press release.

“I’m honored to be asked to take on this role and look forward to helping move the organization forward as it continues to impress upon the industry the need for a common set of standards,” said Leibold. “We must continue to develop those standards, so stakeholders can leverage efficiency, speed and agility to provide better customer experience outcomes.”

In 2023, the STAR board was restructured and reduced to nine members, which are split equally between OEMs, technology providers and dealers. Each board member is elected to a three-year term. Officers (chairman, vice-chairman and treasurer) serve one-year terms and can be re-elected. Leibold was selected as a result of a special election and will finish the remaining one-year term for his seat.

“As a former board member of STAR, Shawn steps into this role seamlessly and provides a wealth of DMS insights which are vital to the future development of the STAR Standards,” said JP Garvey, chairman of STAR Standards and dealer principal of the Garvey Auto Group. “It’s great to see that the members recognize the importance of this critical insight as STAR moves into 2024 and beyond.”
