Tekmetric Launches Digital Authorization Update to Promote Efficiency

Tekmetric’s Digital Authorization Update Promotes Efficiency

Tekmetric, a Houston-based automotive repair technology company, has announced its digital authorization update to the Tekmetric Shop Management System. These updates support automotive repair shop owners in obtaining full and complete digital authorization by attaining digital signatures, providing full repair order (RO) authorization histories and building upon existing compliance procedures for state regulations.

The first feature included in the update allows shops to go completely paperless by collecting and using digital signatures in all authorizations throughout the repair. Each time the shop’s customer needs to sign a vehicle inspection or quote, they will have the opportunity to create a digital signature using their fingers on a touchpad or mouse on a screen. This provides a simple, lasting record that both parties can easily save and share as needed.

Tekmetric’s update also includes a feature that allows shops access to a complete authorization history for every RO, including a real-time snapshot of the estimate at the time of approval. With this update, shops can mitigate risk through an all-inclusive overview of historical records to protect shop owners against chargeback claims and other potential challenges.

Finally, the update builds upon and strengthens the existing authorization flow and details display to streamline compliance with state regulations. With this capability, Tekmetric automatically captures the information a shop needs and continues supporting shop owners as they maintain compliance, no matter where they are located.

This digital authorization update expands Tekmetric’s existing cloud-based shop management capabilities, creating a more robust and beneficial platform to assist shop owners in growing their business. From the first vehicle inspection to the final digital signature, Tekmetric’s intuitive and customizable platform truly enables shop owners to provide an excellent paperless customer experience.

According to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA)’s latest findings, the technician shortage has reached critical levels, with an anticipated shortfall of 80,000 technicians by year’s end. The association reports that three technicians will exit the workforce for every new technician who enters. Ouch.

It’s a rare dealer who hasn’t been affected by the technician shortage. And the deficiency disrupts not just the service department but the entire dealership. Extended wait times for service appointments frustrate customers and can lead to a decline in satisfaction levels. Compromised service quality due to understaffed service departments can damage customer trust and loyalty, ultimately impacting dealership profitability.
