How has your military background shaped your career in the automotive sector?

My military background has helped me deal with all kinds of people. The car business and the military are made up of people from different backgrounds and all having different personalities. The military taught me what kind of leaders to emulate and how to treat everyone respectfully. From my military experience, I also learned how to listen to learn and not necessarily how to respond.

What advice do you have for fellow veterans pursuing a career in this industry?

If you bring the same work ethic we had to have while serving in the military, you will be just fine. It’s not a lot different than your time service. You will have great bosses and some who aren’t so good. You control how you react to them. Most importantly, operate off of the core values the military instilled in us: “Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All You Do.”
