Helping others is the first building block of Kunes’ culture. The company’s mission statement starts with “We Build People’s Lives,” and then celebrates its employees, customers and communities. Kunes uses its organization as a platform for giving, donating the first 10% of profits to charities that help others, such as food pantries, homeless shelters, organizations that run safe houses or fight human trafficking, orphanages, and the like. Kunes’ dollars go to local, regional and international organizations. In addition to dollars, however, Kunes takes it personally that its team is here to build people’s lives. For Kunes and its customers, this could mean going above and beyond to help those who are struggling, by getting them into safe cars that they can afford, knowing that if they have reliable transportation, they can get to work, transport their kids, and take care of their families. For Kunes’ team members, it gets even more personal. Kunes wants work life to be fulfilling and edifying.
