Manheim Viper Voyage of Appreciation

How does helping others factor into the culture of your business?

At Manheim, giving back to the communities where we live and work is at the very core of who we are. It has been a vital part of our culture throughout our history, and the Viper Voyage of Appreciation is one example of the many ways we live out this value. We are deeply committed to leaving the world better than we found it, and in collaboration with the tens of thousands of team members across Cox Enterprises, we are working to help 34 million people live more prosperous lives by 2034. You can read more about our collective commitment to giving back here.

Please share with us the causes that are important to you and your business.

Our volunteerism is focused on solving challenges for underserved communities in two areas in particular: the environment and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math). For the Manheim Express Viper Voyage of Appreciation in particular, we worked collectively with our clients to support three stellar organizations: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Girls, Inc. and Toys for Tots. All three charities strive to support children and youth in their own unique ways, whether that’s empowering them through environmental and STEAM developmental programs or providing toys for families who have fallen on hard times.

How do you encourage your team members to get involved?

Our team members are incredibly enthusiastic in supporting their local communities, and we do everything we can to give them the tools, time and opportunities to give back. As a Cox Automotive brand, Manheim provides paid time off for employees to volunteer, and many of our teams organize activities where team members can serve together.

What do you look for in a cause to determine if you will get involved? What advice can offer to others?

We are guided by our deep commitment to empowering people to live more prosperous lives through access to education, technology, employment skills, and ensuring a sustainable environment, and we look for opportunities and organizations that are equally committed to solving these issues. For those who are looking to grow their service to their own communities, we encourage them to consider what challenges they are most passionate about solving, and then look for ways to dive in and support. Finding the intersection of your team’s enthusiasm for a cause, your business strengths and the greatest needs in the community is where the most good can come.
