What is one of your proudest accomplishments of your career?
I’ve truly had so many proud moments in my 20 years in the automotive industry, all with the same company too! I am most proud though of the family, team and culture at Rally Subaru. I created a workplace that people want to be a part of, where they feel valued, heard and appreciated, and part of a team. Where work/life balance is important and celebrated. I am proud of the relationships I have with my team, and I am humbled by their support and devotion to the work that we share together.
In what do you credit your success and/or what do you think makes you stand apart from your peers?
My sons have always inspired me to be the best version of myself, they get the first credit. I have also had many incredible mentors, including one who stood by me my entire time in the service department, giving me the opportunity to manage this diverse, challenging department. I was able to run the department as I saw fit, with guidance when needed, and that is what grew my confidence. From that has come success and the formation of my amazing team that I am so proud of. I have been told that it is my patience and calmness that makes me stand apart from others. People can be challenging, and I love a challenge!
What tools do you use to help you grow in the industry?
My relationships with people are my strongest tools. I keep current in my reading relevant not only to the automotive industry, but to what I am interested in outside of work. If you have a balance between work and your life outside of work, you will be successful.
What is your best advice to other women who want to excel in the automotive industry?
Believe in yourself, show up and work hard and smart! Be confident, and when you have a question, ask! You will be amazed at the support and guidance you will receive. Although all our technicians are men, my entire front-end team is all women, and they are strong, fierce and knowledgeable. Find your passion and have fun turning it into your career!
