VinTel Diagnostic Reports Promote Better Trade Analysis, Consumer Confidence

VinTel offers real-time standardized automotive diagnostic reports through Rapid Recon reconditioning workflow software.

For more detailed trade appraisals at Crown Automotive Group, Group Used Car Director David Simches uses vehicle diagnostic reports from VinTel® by VinLogx.

VinTel offers real-time standardized automotive diagnostic reports through Rapid Recon reconditioning workflow software.

The VinTel report gives insight into diagnostics, emissions, reset details, repair cost guides, potential reconditioning costs, and knowledge required for these tasks. An example would be damaged ADAS sensors in bumpers so painters can properly understand reconditioning details. Code-related repairs are instantly verified as completed.

“Using VinTel through Rapid Recon helps us make faster and more informed disposition decisions on inventory, and its thoroughly detailed vehicle status reports, when shared with buyers, help build their confidence in the used cars we sell,” Simches said. Crown began using VinTel two years ago.

Through Rapid Recon, these details are printable to a dealer-branded report. Rapid Recon users will find VinTel icons on their Rapid Recon Vehicle Details View (see below).

“A dealer spends a lot of money to recondition a car to frontline-ready status, but too often Check Engine and other dash alerts illuminate during a test drive, potentially sabotaging buyer interest in that car and trust in the dealership,” Simches said.

This embarrassment and lost opportunity are eliminated when the VinTel tool is used during the trade or later in reconditioning. Too often, owners clear these codes with their own scan tools so their vehicle presents better during the trade appraisal,

“Armed with such details, the used car manager knows the upfront costs to correct problems presented by these error codes – or quickly make decisions for retail or wholesale. That saves everybody time and headache, doesn’t it?” Simches said.

With the addition of the VinTel link on the vehicle information panel, you can quickly see if the report is available and the severity of the report by the status color. VinTel uses a color key to help users quickly identify the condition of the vehicle from the diagnostic information:

Green: The report is available, and the car has no exceptions.

Yellow: The report is available, and the vehicle has minor exceptions.

Red: The report is available, and the vehicle has significant exceptions.

Gray: The report is not available.

“Now Rapid Recon users have deeper OEM-level vehicle diagnostic data shown in simple, easy-to-understand terms. Now dealers can quickly decide how they want to recondition a vehicle,” said Keith McCord, chief executive officer for VinLogx.

“VinTel brings the value of deep, vehicle-specific details to help our dealers make more informed decisions about reconditioning options. We are exceptionally grateful to have them join us as a Certified Partner,” said Dennis McGinn, founder and chief executive officer for Rapid Recon. “With VinTel vehicle diagnostics now available for our customers directly through Rapid Recon, informed reconditioning decisions take another step forward.”
