How has your military experience influenced your career in the automotive industry?
If I had to pick two traits that my military service instilled in me, it would be perseverance and adaptability. Quitting is simply not an option. This experience shaped who I am and how I tackle problems both professionally and personally.
What are some of the ways you have seen the industry support veterans?
As a hiring manager, I have always given preference to veterans. The skills and grit that veterans acquire during their service can’t be taught in a classroom. I have hired several veterans throughout the years, and most are still with the company.
What is one piece of advice you have for veterans entering the industry?
The industry as a whole looks favorably on veterans but that only gets you so far. Start every day with the mission to reinforce why you were hired. Listen to your peers and have their backs like the men and women you served with.
