What Weather Conditions Are Best for Washing a Car?

Here's why you should be advising your customers to wash their cars in different weather conditions, even when it’s raining.

Most car owners only have their car washed when the sun is shining, but did you know this is actually not the best thing for your car?

You should be advising your customers to wash their cars in different weather conditions, even when it’s raining, here’s why.

If you’re going to get your car washed in the rain, part of the work has already been done. As the rain patters on the car’s paintwork, stubborn dirt or pollen is already softened. In this case, prewashing can be skipped.

No need to worry about water marks on your freshly cleaned car, thanks to the wax finish, the raindrops bead off the clean paintwork.

Summer may seem like the most obvious time to get your car washed. However, it’s also one of the most important. Cars endure a lot during the summer, insect debris, bird lime and pollen from trees.

This dirt dries quickly, sticks and is not easy to remove. If the car owner doesn’t have a garage, the paint will start to look worn in no time.

During the hot months, you should regularly clean your vehicle. Even though this dirt is natural, in conjunction with the high UV radiation, it can do a lot of harm.

Many car owners are stuck in the belief that there’s no point to wash your car in the winter either. Between the salt, mud, slush, whatever it may be, this is actually the most critical time to have a clean car.

If you drive your car a lot in the winter, you should pay regular visits to automatic car washes or conveyor tunnel systems. This is because slush and dirt gets stuck to the underside of the car, and salt and alkali attack the paintwork when it’s exposed to these elements for too long.

These types of car washes provide an under body wash that will prevent rust that comes with being constantly cold and wet during the winter months.

So, if your customers asks you if they should wash their cars in all weather conditions, you should absolutely advise them to continue on regular cleaning schedules, no matter what the weather is.
