Industry Veteran Mark Allen Joins AutoAp

Automotive technology executive formerly with public company, quorum, chooses up and coming automotive safety recall company to help dealer clients drive revenue, limit liability.

AutoAp has announced it has hired automotive industry technology leader Mark Allen as executive vice president.

Allen, who was most recently a senior vice president at the publicly traded Quorum Information Systems, a dealership management and retail systems and services provider, was attracted to AutoAp’s mission to help dealers solve one of the automotive retail industry’s most vexing challenges — managing automotive safety recalls.

“I’m ecstatic to join AutoAp at a pivotal point in its growth and value to the industry,” Allen said. “AutoAp has developed proven services to help dealers drive revenue, while at the same time limiting their liability. I’m looking forward to working with my industry colleagues to offer a solution to automotive dealers that will capitalize on opportunities to delight their customers and increase their revenue while overcoming the difficulties of recall management. Now is the right time for the comprehensive solution that AutoAp offers, and it’s a privilege to be a part of taking AutoAp to their next level.”

AutoAp launched its Dynamic Recall Management (DRM) service in 2015 to help dealerships better manage automotive safety recalls. According to AutoAp research, more than 20% of all vehicles on the road have at least one open safety recall. Many recalls have a delay from announcement by the manufacturer to publishing by the National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) with many being delayed for months. In addition, an AutoAp review of the NHTSA data in 2014 found an error rate of nearly 30%. These errors persist, even today.

In addition to their DRM service, dealer clients can make more profitable acquisition decisions, obtain on-demand insights into financial and liability impacts safety recalls have on their operations and generate additional revenue from their customers’ vehicles — all by automating cumbersome manual and error-prone systems.

“We’re excited to bring Mark Allen aboard as a catalyst to our growth and to help bring our solution suite to partners and dealers throughout the country,” said AutoAp CEO Mark Paul. “Mark Allen is a proven industry leader with a track record for success and deep relationships in the automotive retail industry. Attracting top talent to the AutoAp team is an indication we are bringing the right technology to our clients to help solve an important industry challenge.”

At Quorum, Allen was most recently responsible for corporate development, including partnerships, manufacturer relations, major business development pursuits and marketing initiatives for several Quorum brands. He previously led the sales, marketing and services team for the company’s Dealership Management System division. Prior to Quorum, Allen held senior executive and management positions at EDS and General Motors. He also is a serial entrepreneur, launching start-ups Help Desk, Playing Field Inc. and Amici Coffeehouse.
