Partnership with Privacy4Cars offers powerful solution for erasing personal data stored on automobiles ahead of Safeguards Rule implementation in June

The Dealer Education Portal has partnered with Privacy4Cars,the first privacy-tech company focused on identifying the challenges posed by vehicle data and creating solutions to better protect consumers. The partnership aims to help automobile dealers safely and securely erase Personal Information stored in vehicles ahead of the implementation of the Safeguards Rule in June. Auto dealers that complete the Dealer Education Portal’s Safeguards Course will receive a free 30-day trial of the Prvacy4Cars platform.

Data privacy among consumers has become a major regulatory issue across the country, with the Federal Trade Commission’s updated Safeguards Rule taking effect this year. Dealers have until June 9, 2023, to meet certain requirements to stay compliant with this rule or risk serious financial penalties.

“We are excited to partner with Privacy4Cars to bring proper awareness, and valuable tools, to our network,” said Earl Cooke, Director of Compliance and Business Development at the Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association. “The platform offers a unique and powerful solution for automobile dealers to delete consumer data from the vehicles they acquire and sell.”

Privacy4Cars’ proprietary data deletion solution to clear consumer Personal Information (home address, garage codes, text messages, and other data) is regarded in the wholesale and retail automotive channels as the most simple, efficient, effective, and auditable solution to meet increasing regulatory requirements and protect consumers.

“There are hundreds of state and federal laws that regulate data collected by – and stored in – vehicles, with new legislation emerging seemingly daily,” said Andrea Amico, Privacy4Cars Founder and CEO. “Keeping up with all of the regulatory changes might feel overwhelming for dealerships, which is why we’re proud to partner with the Dealer Education Portal to offer those that complete their Safeguards Course with 30-days free use of the Privacy4Cars platform. By properly educating themselves about these new regulations, and implementing the use tools to delete consumer Personal Information while keeping a detailed compliance record, dealerships will find themselves prepared for the Safeguards Rule when it goes into effect this spring.”
