The Thompson Organization

the Thompson Organization Pine2Pink Foundation

How does helping others factor into the culture of your business?

The Thompson Organization has been built upon a commitment to customer service and excellence. In 1969, Jack Thompson opened one of the first Toyota dealerships in the country in Doylestown, PA. With hard work and perseverance, the Thompson Organization has grown to include a BMW dealership and two Lexus dealerships, as well as the Thompson Collision Center and Thompson Detail Center. Mr. Thompson’s motto, “We’re not in the car business, we’re in the people business,” remains today. His focus on doing things differently and setting ourselves apart has defined the way that we’ve done business. It’s our goal not only to meet the needs and expectations of our customers but to exceed them. This includes giving back to the community that has supported our organization for over 50 years.

Please share with us the causes that are important to you and your business.

Thompson is proud to support numerous non-profit charities, animal welfare organizations like the Bucks County SPCA and Last Chance Ranch, multiple youth athletic teams, land preservation groups such as the Heritage Conservancy and Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, along with local cultural institutions like the Mercer Museum, Michener Art Museum, Riverside Symphonia and Doylestown Arts Festival. We also participate in the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids program, which gives out coats to underprivileged children in our area.

Our connection and efforts with the Pine2Pink Foundation, a local breast cancer patient support organization, is one of the most visible partnerships Thompson fosters. Every October, all of Thompson’s dealerships are illuminated in bright pink lights, and our Toyota portal is transformed into a bright Pink “Hero Wall” where community members are invited to sign the pink panels outside the dealership’s front entrance as a visual celebration of survivors, encouragement for those in recovery and memorializing loved ones lost. Over the last three years, the Thompson Organization has donated close to $40,000 to Pine2Pink. Looking forward to October 2022, our team is striving to have our largest donation to date, expanding contributions to the Kin Wellness and Support Center, an all-inclusive retreat center offering integrative services, support, fitness and therapy to Bucks County, PA, residents battling cancer.

How do you encourage your team members to get involved?

Encouraging employees to get involved is not a difficult task at Thompson. Our team functions more like a family, volunteering their time at events, helping to spread the word about upcoming events by sharing on social media and speaking with customers and by cultivating positive relationships with community members. Thompson employees take pride in working for an organization that gives back in so many ways and do their best to help increase community awareness.

What do you look for in a cause to determine if you will get involved? What advice can offer to others?

While our support touches many different causes and organizations, one thing remains constant — it’s for the good of our community. Supporting larger, nationwide organizations is admirable, we believe that helping those directly in our local area has a much more impactful influence. The Thompson Organization knows that sometimes it takes a village to make a difference, and we are happy to be a part of that change.
